March Seven: Missionaries

A “missionary” isn’t just someone who’s planting churches in Indonesia, or teaching kids about Jesus in Uganda. A missionary – at least as we define the term – is anyone within the organization who is committed to bringing the organization’s mission to life.

These “missionaries” are the people representing your organization to a variety of stakeholders, but just as important (or perhaps even more important), they’re the people you partner with. It’s critical they embrace the organization’s values. It’s critical they have the right motivations. It’s critical they have the skill set (or can acquire the skill set) to execute.

Using our proprietary and practical tools, you’ll answer these questions:

How do we best organize the people of our organization?
How do we hire, inspire and – when necessary – fire people?

As with all of our marches, we’ll help you think differently by applying concepts and principles from the world of business. In March Five, we’ll pull ideas from HubSpot, In-N-Out Burger and Southwest Airlines among others.

“We're designed to be active and engaged. And we know that the richest experiences in our lives aren't when we're clamoring for validation from others, but when we're listening to our own voice-doing something that matters, doing it well, and doing it in the service of a cause larger than ourselves.”
